When will the SATs take place?
The government requires all schools to administer SATs during May.
Are the SATs papers timed?
There are no specific time limitations during any of the tests and they can be chunked into smaller sessions as appropriate.
How is the test administered?
The SATs take place in the classroom and are made as low key as possible. The children will be sat with plenty of space between them, in a silent setting. S
Do the results of SATs papers effect groupings for the children in year 3?
No. The results from the SATs have no impact on groupings or classes in the following year.
Who marks the SATs papers?
The class teachers mark the papers.
Will we be told about our child’s results?
Parents will be given the final teacher assessment at the end of the year.
What can we do to support our child out of school?
Continue to read with your child every night and ask questions about what they have been reading. Fluency in basic number facts and the 2, 5 and 10 times tables will enable your child to have more confidence in approaching the maths paper. The homework we send home supports the children’s learning at school, simultaneously preparing them for SATs.
