DT - Making Bread
In DT this half term, we have been investigating the types of foods that would have been available during Tudor and Stuart times. As bread was a staple of every meal during this period, Elm class have been designing and combining their own flavours to create a new, delicious loaf that contained only the ingredients that people in the 1600s would have had access to.
Topic Wow-In
To get our Topic - Plague Pox and Antibiotics - off to a great start, pupils in Elm class took part in a carousel of activities to help them discover common illnesses and crazy cures during the Tudor times. Activities included:
- Making a Plague Doctor mask
- Crafting lavender bags to help ward off bad smells
- Identifying different herbs and the ailments they would cure
- Exploring what picture sources tell us about the job of Barber Surgeons
