The Governing Body
The governing body of Norton-Juxta-Kempsey Primary aims to support the school by using their skills and expertise for the good of the school and to support the Headteacher to set the school’s aims and objectives.
The principal reasons for having a Local Governing Body are:
- To work with the school in setting high standards and supporting strategic planning for the school’s future, with the aim of raising the educational achievement of all its pupils;
- To ensure that appropriate challenge is maintained on school development and improvement, and ensure appropriate targets are set;
- To be a critical friend to the school, in good times and bad, offering the school support and advice;
- To oversee financial performance of the school to ensure that its money is well spent;
- To help the school to be responsive to the needs of pupils, parents, staff and the wider community and make the school more accountable.
Norton-Juxta-Kempsey governing body is made up as follows:
- 3 Parent Governors, who are appointed by parents of pupils at the school
- 1 Headteacher
- 1 Staff Governor, who is appointed by school staff
- 6 Co-opted Governors, who are appointed by the governing body.
- 2 Foundation Governors, who are appointed by the Diocese.
The governing body currently has 2 co-opted vacancies.
The governing body meets at least once a term and in addition there are three committees, Finance, Strategy, Premises incl. health and safety; Curriculum, Monitoring and Targets; and Well-being and Community, who meet at least termly. There is also a key policy review committee that meets twice a year.
