Norton Juxta Kempsey CE Primary School Governing Body
NORTON-JUXTA-KEMPSEY C.E PRIMARY SCHOOL
‘Together, with the love and joy of God, we will discover, develop & maximise our unique potential.’
Norton-Juxta-Kempsey Cof E Primary School became a founder member of Avonreach Academy Trust (AAT) on 1st August 2017 along with Orchard Primary, Inkberrow Primary and Pershore High School.
The Governing Body
The governing body of Norton-Juxta-Kempsey C of E Primary aims to support the school by using their skills and expertise for the good of the school and to support the Headteacher to set the school’s aims and objectives.
The principal reasons for having a Local Governing Body are:
- To work with the school in setting high standards and supporting strategic planning for the school’s future, with the aim of raising the educational achievement of all its pupils;
- To ensure that appropriate challenge is maintained on school development and improvement, and ensure appropriate targets are set;
- To be a critical friend to the school, in good times and bad, offering the school support and advice;
- To oversee financial performance of the school to ensure that its money is well spent;
- To help the school to be responsive to the needs of pupils, parents, staff and the wider community and make the school more accountable.
Norton-Juxta-Kempsey Local governing body is made up as follows:
- 2 Parent Governors, who are appointed by parents of pupils at the school
- 1 Headteacher
- 1 Staff Governor, who is appointed by school staff
- 5 Co-opted Governors, who are appointed by the LGB.
- 2 Foundation Governors, who are appointed by the Diocese.
From September 2021, the Trust have introduced the implementation of the Circle Model of Governance for Local Governing Boards. This removes the need for committees and promotes full local board oversight across all areas. Lead governor roles are maximised under this method to facilitate assurance and enhanced support for headteachers.
